I don't usually write in the morning, neither do i appreciate getting woken up when in my groggy state, i've already decided to skip classes and sleep in today.

But this time it's different.

It's here!!!! 1997 Gibson Thunderbird, Sunburst, and all that hyped slimness and sleekness... all true! This one's a bit scratched up, but from a small distance still looks really good. A very light fret buzz on th E string though. THINNEST neck i've ever played with, besides Ibanezes. All the crap about it being heavy and also neck-heavy, nonsense. If you're used to 5 string basses, this one's light in comparison.

You know wat? The best thing is i have yet to plug it in. Not much of a point since my amp's half blown.

All in all, as said time and time again, i don't really care how it sounds. How bad can it be? My sansamp will take care of that. That's besides the point, cos it's a Gibson for crying out loud. And it looks good. Period.

I'll worry about what i have to sell later

For the moment, after 2 and a half years of indecision, i'm a proud owner of a Gibson Thunderbird.

And i've reached choking point. Now we'll see which one will have to go first

Yes yes, i can't sleep once again. This really sucks. Random thoughts to follow:

1) It being a thursday night, i caught the last episode of stories of love, and it was a good thing i did! Last week's one was sorely disappointing. Au contraire to what i said earlier, the show failed to live up to its hype. Great lead actor & actress, but want me to believe that there can be something going on with a 60 yr old man (lim kay tong) and a woman (yu something something) in her early 30s, that's way over my limit of imagination. Anyway, yes, this week's episode. It was arguably the best episode, with the vietnamese bride one running a close second.

I was actually rather surprised to see Nat Ho on the cast. Not the "huh? simi-lai-eh?" surprise, fyi, but the pleasant surprise sort. The last time i saw the bugger was in the flop sequal to Chase, and last heard he was in some Channel 8 SAF-inspired production.

No, i'm not in love with him. Neither am I a die-hard-camp-outside-caldecott-hill-just-for-a-glimpse fan.

You see, i used to sleep with Nat Ho...

....in the same room....

....with 10 other guys...

....on separate beds. you sick puppy you, wat were you thinking?

Anyway, yes, we used to be section-mates in BMT. Last time i met him was during his Singapore Idol stint, but pretty much lost contact after that. Yes yes, you want the dirt right? Not that I would dish out the dirt on him, even if i wanted to in the first place, but this bugger is pretty much the image he portrays himself as, clean cut, Mr sunshine, sincere, and he's a really nice guy to boot.

Anyway, back to the show. Yea, i tot both the leads did really well. After his dull role in the chase sequal, i must say i was impressed by nat's acting abilities. I mean come on, you would have doubts and maybe a guilty-until-proven sortof attitude for singers crossing into the acting scene yea? Or is it just cynical me... anwyay, he did a great job. Good for you bro!

Moving on, and please take note, the above is to be read very objectively, otherwise i realised it may look like i'm some ditzy schoolgirl gushing over an actor. Ay, i'm not. Seriously, what's wrong with you people?

2) Ahem... the Thunderbird has landed. In Singapore. Stay Tuned. You won't regret it.
At the moment, the way the demeter is prices, it's outta the question. Looks like the dynamics and mojo's gonna have to come from the fingers.

3) Busy weekend ahead. Sian. Gotta do some housekeeping and probably a time trim, bits here and there. Metophorically of course, i don't see how u can read it literally.

4) Currently listening a lot to Hinder's Lips Of an Angel. I like the words in the chorus, one of many songs that has lyrics which makes me go "whoa, if only i came up with that." Of course, me saying that has zero credibility, given that i do not, or more precisely cannot, write songs, period.

5) 'Tis the season to be TV watching, falalalalala.
Prison break 3, September 17th. Heroes Season 2, September 24th.
All downloadable online, not because i'm a pirate (well, technically i am), but mediacorp's not shelling out enough to get it onto our screens quick enough.
That aside, woohoo.

6) I'm going to sleep.

'Cos you're everything, whoa oh oh

Just ask the axis

Or just press play in the box 2 posts before this one.

Cannot... sleep...

i'm beginning to see a trend here. When i can't sleep, i write/type. Besides, i got to chalk up an entry for september. And it is good practice too, considering all i write nowadays are equations and... actually, pretty much that, equations. You have no idea how engineering can dull the "literary/arts" part of your brain. The other day i was just sitting down with Cho, and we were both trying to figure out what the leaflets they hand out in church on Sundays are called. Eventually we did (actually he did) dig up the elusive term, "bulletin", after which, Cho just shook his head and said "must be army. destroys brain cells". I had no excuse, so i just let the "man-that-made-me-look-real-dumb" moment pass, which happens rather often if you must know. Hurhur

Ok, i'm still wide awake. Shall pen down random happenings, in no particular order of importance:

1) No $1600 white thunderbird, then let slip a $1600 black thunderbird, and most recently, a $1400(!!!) sunburst thunderbird. All includes shipping to my doorstep mind you. Too bad my emails and purchase requests gets ignored by the ishibashi staff... looks like i'll be camping at their site for quite a while

2) Demeter Compulator, should be in my grubby digits by this week. Which will form the "big three" in my signal chain, the demeter, xotic bass bb preamp and the EHX Lil big muff pi. Meaning... i might be potentially be getting rid of my ibanez ts-9dx, subdecay noisebox, EHX small clone, boss geb-7 & oc-2 and definitely the mxr supercomp. Shall keep the sansamp for my passive pbass... for now.
Don't mind me, just writing this down for recording purposes, not to show off muh gear. Well... maybe just a little. Who am i kidding? =)

3) Gear aside... School. Waaaaay behind in work. Shall catch up by next week. Same old story every semester... always playing catching.

4) Cooking movies are the in thing man! Wanna watch rattatoohowtheheckdoyouspellit and the other cooking show with aaron eckhart and catherine zeta jones. Man... i'm real bad at remembering details. Nothing new here

5) Stories of love on channel 5! I can't believe i'm saying this, i'm actually looking forward to a locally produced television show. Well, can you blame me after having to swallow down "after hours" and "my sassy neighbour"? Just when it seems the only quality shows Singapore are able to produce are documentaries (think "get real"), they come up with something original.

Tomorrow's one looks really good, with lim kay tong/siu (one of 'em. told you i'm bad with details...) and err... some other actress. The storyline looks very promising, given that last week's one was pretty well written in my opinion. And the acting's pretty good too actually. Never seen any of them before(ay, what's up mediacorp? can you pls give actors who can actually act more gigs?), but the guy with the disability, if he doesn't actually have it, potrayed the character pretty well! And the vietnamese actress was pretty good too. In fact, mediacorp should just import her over. Even if she speaks broken english, her acting more than makes up for it. And she looks good to boot. Maybe there is hope for local tv after all...

6) Baybeats 2008! Ok, it seems pretty impossible having listened to the likes of vertical rush, WGB, allura etc. but i'll be hitting myself years from now if i don't even try. At least i get to be stamped "lousy" by the baybeats committee. Ok, nvm, but consolation point. To sum up, in the words of my ex-dota kakhi WW, "hood ah!"

7) Speaking of which, i've deleted dota. It has been a month. I still break into cold sweat when i hear the terms "ownage" and "noob" which, unfortunately, are very widely incorporated into the daily vocabulary of any given engineering student. Apart from breaking into occasional fits, i'm coping.

8) Currently listening to:
We've Got a Big Mess On Our Hands - The Academy Is...
Face Down - Red Jumpsuit Apparatus
The Great Escape - Boys Like Girls
Walk Away - Funeral For a Friend
We Are One Tonight - Switchfoot
Read My Mind - The Killers
Sunday Morning - Maroon 5
DKNY - West Grand Boulevard (Thank goodness they got rid of daphne khoo... *phew*)

Ok, i'm feeling drowsy (finally). Until next month, or not
