Hurry Up And Get Here - Monday, January 21, 2008 at 8:22 AM |
I caught the last episode of the (warning: overstretched adjective-fest to follow) 9pm channel 8 local chinese drama serial.
Prior to the finale, i did catch 1 or 2 episodes way back when it first aired on tv. I got to tell ya, it looked promising with a somewhat refreshing plot. Of course, i'm saying this in relation to other local dramas.
But as always, mediacorp stayed true to its rep (at least for me) by screwing up the last episode. Ok, so i didn't follow the series but it's not hard to make out what happened the past month or so. Hey, it's a local drama serial, just plot a few points and extrapolate. Why do you think our local screen writers aren't going on strike? Other than the fact that uncle lee runs a tight ship, of cos.
So, how did the last episode end? The main characters died, and the rest of the family lived ever after. That's right, no "happily" or "sadly" before the ever after, because that's just it! It was im-friggin-possible to infer whether it was a sad or happy ending. If it's supposed to be a melodramatic ending, i.e. the typical korean drama, then i've got to say the screen writers got to go back to writing school. Somewhere between primary 5 & 6, where lessons on basic plots are being taught to 11 and 12 year olds. If it's to have the "life goes on" sort of effect... surprise, surprise... just like NUS, it still sucks! Ok, i take that back... i mean, nothing sucks like NUS... what was i thinking? If NUS, no, i correct myself, "nus", in lowercase letters, had a module, NU1101, module description "introduction to the many ways nus suck", i'll probably hand in a 5000 word essay on the first week.
But i digress, on my favourite topic, no less. Yea, the ending to the show was horrible! I might sound like a meanie who despises local productions (which i don't. I just despise the lack of innovation), but you got to really check out the show and i'll be shocked if you don't agree with me.
That aside, switchfoot next week! Exciting stuff... a non-emo, non-punk pop/rock act that is just pure alt rock! With a touch of powerpop. Yea!
maybe forgiveness is right where you fell
think about it -
